We are thrilled to announce the release of DisCorkie 1.7.15. This isn't just a standard update; it marks a major shift in how we deliver DisCorkie to our Windows users.
For those of you finding us for the first time, or for our long-time users ready to make the switch, here is everything you need to know about this release.
What is DisCorkie?
If you are a frequent user of Discourse forums, you know the struggle: you have ten different tabs open for ten different communities. You lose track of notifications, you get distracted by other web browsing, and switching between them becomes a chore.
DisCorkie solves this.
DisCorkie is a dedicated, multi-instance desktop client for Discourse. It allows you to:
- Consolidate your communities: Add all your favorite Discourse forums into a single, unified sidebar.
- Focus on the discussion: Enjoy a distraction-free interface dedicated solely to reading and replying.
- Stay organized: Switch between communities instantly without cluttering your web browser.

A New Home on Windows: The Microsoft Store
Starting with version 1.7.15, DisCorkie is officially available on the Microsoft Store.
Why the change?
Previously, we distributed DisCorkie via .msi installers hosted on our GitHub Releases page. While this worked, we believe the Microsoft Store offers a superior experience for our users. Consequently, we will no longer be releasing or supporting .msi installers on GitHub.
Moving to the Store brings three major benefits:
- Automatic Updates: You no longer need to check GitHub for new versions or manually download installers. The Microsoft Store handles everything in the background, ensuring you are always on the latest version with the newest features and security patches.
- Enhanced Security: Every app on the Microsoft Store undergoes a vetting process by Microsoft. downloading from the Store guarantees you are getting a safe, malware-free application that hasn't been tampered with.
- Seamless Installation: No more download wizards or "Next, Next, Finish" dialogs. Just click "Install," and you are ready to go.
Also in 1.7.15: Better Navigation
While the Store launch is the headline, we haven't forgotten about the user experience.
This update introduces a new scrollbar on the Topic Screen. We heard from users that navigating long threads could sometimes feel disorienting. This addition provides better visual feedback on your position within a discussion, making it easier to scrub through long debates or catch up on extensive reading sessions.
